Fine century by Thurstan's Kavindu
A superb century by Thrustanite Kavindu Kulasekera (138) was the
highlight of the Inter-School Under-19 cricket match between Royal and
Thurstan which ended in a draw at Reid Avenue yesterday.
Thurstan resuming their first innings at 110 for one went onto score
249 helped by Kavindu's century which consisted of 18 boundaries and two
sixers which gave the Thurstanites a first innings lead of 33 runs.
Sajith Gunatilleke (31) and Avishka Peiris (24) also made useful
contributions.
Royal in their second innings made 168 for 7 wickets helped by a
sparkling knock of 51 not out by Harith Samarasinghe who hit eight fours
and one six. Hashan Ramanayake (29) and Shamindra Dais (20) also made
good contributions.
