In-service training for new recruits

The Southern Provincial Department of Education initiated training programs for recently recruited teachers in the region.

Newly appointed graduate teachers in primary schools and primary classes in secondary schools and maha vidyalayas were selected for the purpose under the proposed project.

According to SPC Education Ministry sources these teacher training workshops were conducted at Education In-Service Training Centres in the districts of Galle, Matara and Hambantota.

Accordingly 1,538 newly appointed graduate teachers were already provided with an extensive training in the latest and novel teaching methodologies at training centres in Panangala, Elpitiya, Ambalangoda and Unawatuna in the Galle district, Kamburupitiya, Matara, Akuressa and Deniyaya in the Matara district and Hambantota, Tangalle and Walasmulle in the district of Hambantota by the Southern Provincial Education Ministry.

These teachers are now engaged in their training successfully said Ministry sources. The provision of a quality education to students would be the prime aim of this endeavour Southern regional educational authorities said.
