Army restructuring programs to continue

The Sri Lanka Army, in 2014 too, will continue the restructuring process it had started following the end of terrorism four years ago, with the objective of producing a disciplined force with improved professional knowledge. Army Commander Lieutenant General Daya Ratnayake said the restructuring process is now under way with the ending of the humanitarian operation, to promote professional knowledge with technological innovations among all ranks.

The infrastructure facilities at Army training institutes throughout the island will be improved to create a professional army, he said, delivering the traditional New Year message to the troops at the Army Headquarters in Colombo last Wednesday.

He said the Army has taken measures, launching a number of welfare projects for the well-being of all ranks in the past four years since the end of terrorism.

Appreciating the contribution of all ranks to the development of the country, Lieutenant General Ratnayake stressed the importance of maintaining the highest levels of discipline among all ranks and safeguarding the reputation of the Army at all times.
