'Computer Pioneers' is a group of courses that enable children from
four to 16 years to develop computing skills systematically to be
digitally literate, creative, active and responsible participants in the
digital world.
The courses that are mapped to the new English National Computing
Curriculum have the flexibility to fit into schools or run as
after-school classes.
On successful completion of each Course year, students receive
certificates, assured by Edexcel.
UK Edexcel, a Pearson company, is the UK's largest awarding body,
offering academic and vocational qualifications and testing in the UK
and in over 85 countries.
Computer Pioneers (CP) courses include Workbook-based learning and
practical activities to help motivate learners.
Interactive educational software used in CP exposes younger learners
to a range of subjects enhancing cross-curricular learning.
Older children focus on more standard computer application packages
and languages to carry out challenging tasks and projects.
The use of special equipment that includes robotics, data loggers and
control equipment contributes towards STEM (Science, Technology,
Engineering and Mathematics) learning.
Managing Director of Edexcel, Manos Kapterian said that delivering a
computing curriculum is often a challenge to schools. By training
teachers and making available a well-structured curriculum with all
resources, CP fills a long felt void in schools, he said. |
