Abans launches Hero Splendor 1
Abans, the sole agent for Hero motorcycles in Sri Lanka, launched the
innovative Hero Splendor I-Smart fuel-saving motorcycle at the
Hero-Abans Marketing Convention at the Cinnamon Grand recently.
Hero has developed the new Splendor I-Smart incorporating its
innovative i3S Technology (Idle Stop and Start System) for two-wheelers.
"The advanced i3S Technology is an eco-friendly, green technology
that automatically shuts off the engine when idling and automatically
turns it on when needed, thereby giving more mileage in congested
cities," a company spokesman said.
Airtel to invest $ 20m this year
Sri Lanka mobile tariffs are among the lowest in the world, said
Bharati Airtel Sri Lanka CEO, Suren Goonewardene.
He said that due to this margins in the industry are thin, but they
have large volumes to survive.
He said that year-on-year they see a 15% increase of their subscriber
base and this has prompted them to invest a further US $ 20 million this
year.
"We have now invested heavily in our 3G network. Our new HSPA+
network infrastructure uses cutting edge technology and is designed to
deliver a world class data experience for customers in Sri Lanka," he
said.
AMW opens Suzuki showroom
Associated Motorways (Pvt) Limited opened a Suzuki showroom in Galle
recently.
The people now have access to a showroom with all the facilities
available in Colombo, right at their doorstep which affords convenience.
"Opening a showroom in Galle had been in the pipeline for a long time
and we are glad to see its fruition today.
I believe that the people of this region need the opportunity to
experience for themselves what AMW, through Suzuki, has to offer them,"
said General Manager - Suzuki, Virann de Zoysa.
Hemas Hospital opens dialysis centre
Hemas Hospital recently launched Haemodialysis operations - the first
such facility in the Gampaha district.
The new dialysis centre is equipped with Fresenius 4008 S
Hemodialysis systems and a team of trained nurses and medical officers
with round the clock support of paramedical staff.
The dialysis centre was opened by Chairman, Hemas Hospitals, Murtaza
Esufally.
Leading nephrologists and physicians of Hemas Hospital, Wattala, were
present. Esufally said that the motive of setting up this facility goes
beyond commercial aspects.
"Patients with chronic kidney disease will have convenient and easy
access to our facility at Wattala," he said.
SLT to raise US $ 100m
SLT will use the US $ 100 million raised from the international
capital market to upgrade telecom infrastructure. SLT has the island's
sole wireline network, and a mobile firm, pay television in addition to
operating a fibre optic backbone network.
This five-year loan facility has been arranged by HSBC with Sampath
Bank.
Chief Executive of HSBC Sri Lanka, Patrick J Gallagher said that this
will further strengthen the Bank's relationship with SLT and steer it to
achieve development objectives for the benefit of the country. Sampath
Bank Managing Director Aravinda Perera said that in addition to taking
part in syndicated finance for SLT, the bank has also provided services
such as internet payment gateways to the firm's clients.
Fine Vision introduces new camera
Fine Vision, a provider of digital film and television equipment in
Sri Lanka, has introduced. Blackmagic 4K production camera to the
market.
This camera is suitable for shooting high quality feature films, TV
commercials, music videos, documentaries, television episodes and is
compatible with the worlds best Carl Zeiss lenses. Fine Vision are the
agents for Blackmagic products in Sri Lanka.
Here Blackmagic Asia, Marketing Manager Gregory Chang presents the
camera to Chairman, Fine Vision, Rohan Welivita in Singapore.
