Dear children,
You
would have celebrated February 22 as World Thinking Day, giving thought
to children who are less fortunate than some of us. The Guiding and
Scouting movements in many countries got off the ground after Lord and
Lady Baden Powell introduced the Scouting and Guiding Movement in
Britain in 1921.
This is entirely a voluntary organisation enabling girls and boys to
learn life skills and to end up being practical, independent people.
These groups organise fun activities to instil discipline and also to
inculcate good habits.
Many schools in Sri Lanka have either Girl Guide Groups or Scout
Troops to train students in various life skills and instil discipline.
It is good to be a member of either of these groups because it will help
you in the future. '
Bye for now,
Aunty Merle.
