Maheshika wins Kathak dance gold medal

Maheshika Nayanthara De Silva has won for Sri Lanka the Prof P.D. Ashirwadam commemorative gold medal for Kathak Dance awarded by Indira Kala Sangeeth University of the State of Madya Pradesh, India. She was educated at Dharmashoka College, Ambalangoda. Maheshika is the daughter of P.H. Gaminia De Silva and Nelum Ganga De Silva. She is a student of Samurdhi Aththudawa and Prof. Mandari Singh. She entered the Indira Kala Music University of India and in 2011 passed out with a first class. She is the wife of Dinusha Ranga Perera the Lecturer of Visual and Performing Arts, University Colombo.

She is the chief instructor at Narthanie Dance School.


Moratuwa Art Forum meets today

The annual get-together of the Art Forum, Moratuwa will be held at Gorakana Happyshan Hotel today at 5 p.m.


Soul Sounds in concert

Soul Sounds will be in concert at the Barefoot on March 6 commencing 7 p.m. Under the direction of Soundarie David - piano the other musicians will be Christo Prins - drums, Revel Crake and Pradeep Rodrigo - guitars. Also featured will be Mignonne Fernando, Surekha Amerasinghe and Ajith Abeysekera.
