Talagassa bridge needs urgent repairs

The Talagassa suspension bridge over the Nilvala river at Thibbotuwawa is in a state of disrepair for a long time.

According to residents most of the cables and wooden planks of this bridge have decayed and broken beyond repairs. People of Talagassa, Athuraliya, Balakawala, Panadugama, Wilpita and Lenabatuwa use this way over the suspension bridge as a short access route to Akuressa-Matara and Akuressa-Galle main roads.

Children attending Paraduwa National School and Akuressa Maha Vidyalaya and employees attached to Akuressa Government Hospital, SLTB depot, Regional Forest Office and other public and private sector and non-governmental institutions who are coming from above villages also use this way as a short cut to reach their work- places.
