Abandoned lands to be cultivated

The agrarian services department will develop the minor irrigation schemes and recultivate the abandoned paddy lands in Matale district. Of the Rs.100 million allocated by the Economic Development Ministry Rs. 5,446 million has been set apart for the Dambulla, Rs. 40 million to Laggala and the balance equally for Matale and Rattota electorates.

Over 201 acres of abandoned paddy lands in the district have been identified for recultivation.
