Devind and Randev bowl Royal to 130-run win over Trinity
Two superb spells of bowling by left arm leg spinner Devind
Pathmanathan (5 for 27) and right arm off spinner Randev Pathirana (3
for 55) helped Royal College to beat Trinity College by 130 runs in
their Under-19 inter-school match which concluded at Asgiriya Stadium,
Kandy yesterday.
Royal resuming their second innings at 49 for 1, scored 193 for 5
wickets before declaring at the lunch break, which gave Trinity a
sporting victory target of 268 in 60 overs. Left hander Shamindra Dias
remained unbeaten on 99 with 10 hits to the ropes.
Right arm leg spinner Ravin Sayer took 4 wickets for 101 to take his
wicket haul to 103 wickets for the season.
The Trinitians going to bat for the second time, were bundled out for
138 runs in 27.3 overs with the lone resistance coming from skipper Ron
Chandraguptha who remained unbeaten on 80 with 14 boundaries and one
six.
Devind Pathmanathan had the excellent figures of 5 for 27 while
Randev Pathirana chipped in with 3 for 55 which gave him a match-bag of
8 wickets for 78.
