UPFA takes early lead

The ruling United People’s Freedom Alliance (UPFA)
took an early lead in the postal votes at the Western and Southern
Provincial Council elections held yesterday. Early election results at
the time of going to press indicated another landslide victory for the
UPFA.

UN resolution ignores LTTE atrocities - Minister Susil

UPFA General Secretary and Environment and Renewable
Energy Minister Susil Premajayantha said that he didn't see any logic in
the UNHRC decision to investigate Sri Lanka's alleged human rights
violations from 2002 to 2009 ignoring the atrocities and other grave
human rights violations committed by the LTTE prior to 2002.
