Fewer incidents of election violence - Police
A few incidents of election violence compared to
the number of incidents in the previous elections was reported
yesterday, Police sources said. The Police Elections Monitoring Desk
had received 156 complaints by 5.00 pm yesterday from the Western
and Southern Provinces, Police spokesman SSP Ajith Rohana said.

The TID having received information of a house
suspected to be of sheltering Appan in Dharmapuram went on a search
mission a few weeks ago. When the sleuths went inside the house to
search, an armed man hiding under a bed fired several rounds at the
approaching officials and fled the scene. Sub Inspector Ratnakumara
who was among the search party received injuries after being shot in
the leg.The suspect fled in the melee and was identified as Gopi,
whom the TID was looking for. Although there was insufficient
information leading to prove the presence of Appan at the time of
the confrontation, the police took the woman who was in charge of
the house into custody along with her daughter,

Money, money in a rich man's world...
The police found Rs.2,015, 000 in the two
parcels of cash brought to be deposited in the bank. They found 403
forged Rs.5, 000 notes in the packs. Dulanjalee had told the Police
that she had invested some money with a company and she got two
million rupees as profit for her investment. The suspect was
remanded by the Colombo Chief Magistrate Gihan Pilapitiya till April
4.
