Representatives of Japan Export Vehicle Inspection Centre (JEVIC),
one of Japan's leading certification companies for used Vehicles,
visited Sri Lanka recently to meet officials of Premium Trading and
Logistics (Pvt) Ltd, their local agent and discuss marketing strategy
and also meet members of the industry.
The Government in 2013 approved Japan Export Vehicle Inspection
Centre Company Ltd. (JEVIC) as one of the authorised vehicle inspection
companies for used vehicles before export from Japan, a company
spokesman said.
They met a cross section of leaders of used vehicle importing
companies. They also paid courtesy calls on key officials of Government
Authorities including Director of Fiscal Policy, Finance Ministry,
Controller General of Imports and Exports, Controller General of Motor
Vehicles and representatives of the Sri Lanka Customs where they
discussed critical issues faced by used vehicle importers relating to
pre-inspection and to provide services to enrich the used car market in
Sri Lanka.
"The company has ISO/IEC 17020: 1998 IBS Standard Type A
accreditation and the technical ability and experience to conduct
pre-shipment inspection of used motor vehicles destined to Sri Lanka.
Its office network in Yokohama, Nagoya, Osaka and Kobe backed by over
30 approved, full-equipped inspection sites including bonded facilities
within the port, has reduced logistical expenses for the exporter," the
spokesman said.
