Raigam to invest Rs 150 m on PVD salt plant
The import of salt has dropped from around 45,000
metric tonnes to around 7,500 mt during the past six years due to
investments in local table salt production by Raigam Wayamba

Inflation drops to 5.6 percent in April
Inflation, as measured by the change in the
Colombo Consumers’ Price Index (CCPI) (2006/07=100), which is
computed by the Department of Census and Statistics, decelerated
further to 5.6 percent in April 2014, on an annual average basis,
from 5.7 percent in March 2014.

ADB invests $60m on healthcare in Asia
The Asian Development Bank (ADB) is investing up
to $60 million in a new healthcare private equity fund focused
exclusively on Asia. ADB’s Board of Directors approved an equity
investment in OrbiMed Asia Partners II, L.P, which aims at raising
$300 million in capital to be invested in health care companies
across Asia.
