National Farmers' Week in Telijjawila

The National Farmers' Week-2014 would be held in September this year in Matara under the patronage of President Mahinda Rajapaksa.

Minister of Agriculture Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena told Sunday Observer that this National Farmers' Week would be held at Telijjawila Agriculture Training Centre in Matara from 9 to 14 Sep. 2014 on a grand scale.

Farming community would be granted a number of benefits during this special week and 1,400 seminars and workshops would be held to educate 125,000 farmers on environment friendly agricultural practices that pave the way for chemical-free food production, said Senior Asst. Agricultural Director, R. Jaysena of the NWP-PC in Kurunegala.
