US coalition to fight Islamic State
The US has announced that Nato allies have agreed
to form a coalition to fight the Islamic State, with Barack Obama
stating the group's “savage nihilism” must be confronted. The US
president said on Friday that the US and its key allies would be
mount a sustained effort to push back the group,

Ukraine and pro-Russia rebels sign ceasefire deal
Ukraine and pro-Russian rebels in the east have
signed a truce deal to end almost five months of fighting.The two
sides agreed to stop firing by 15:00 GMT and the truce appeared to
be holding. But the rebels said the truce had not changed their
policy of advocating splitting from Ukraine.

India unveils cheap new village toilets
An Indian charity has unveiled 108 new
lavatories in a village which gained notoriety when two young girls
were found hanged from a tree there in May. The teenage cousins were
killed in Katra Sahadatganj in Uttar Pradesh when they went
unaccompanied to relieve themselves in the fields.
