The Bank of Ceylon (BoC) completed maintenance work of the Maharagama Cancer Hospital Children's ward complex as a part of the Banks' Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative and 75th anniversary celebrations.

Health Minister Maithripala Sirisena was the chief guest. Cancer Hospital Director Dr. Kanishka Gunawardhana, Bank of Ceylon, Deputy General Manager Human Resources, K.E.D. Sumanasiri, Assistant General Manager Training, G.D. Silva, Senior Manager Sarath Imbulamure and representatives of the hospital management and bank staff were present.

The Maharagama Cancer Hospital is the only Government institute in the country that treats cancer patients.

The children's ward of this hospital accommodates almost ten percent of the total number of in-house cancer patients and having a well equipped and good environment is essential for speedy recovery. The Children's Ward Complex was constructed and donated by the bank in 2004 and renovated in 2014.
