BoC helps Maharagama Cancer Hospital

Health Minister Maithripala Sirisena unveils the plaque at
the Children’s ward of the Maharagama Cancer Hospital, which
was constructed and is being maintained by the Bank of
Ceylon. The Bank's Deputy General Manager Human Resources,
K.E.D. Sumanasiri, Assistant General Manager, Training and
Development, G.D. Silva, Senior Manager Sarath Imbulamure

The Bank of Ceylon (BoC) completed maintenance work of the Maharagama
Cancer Hospital Children's ward complex as a part of the Banks'
Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative and 75th anniversary
celebrations.
Health Minister Maithripala Sirisena was the chief guest. Cancer
Hospital Director Dr. Kanishka Gunawardhana, Bank of Ceylon, Deputy
General Manager Human Resources, K.E.D. Sumanasiri, Assistant General
Manager Training, G.D. Silva, Senior Manager Sarath Imbulamure and
representatives of the hospital management and bank staff were present.
The Maharagama Cancer Hospital is the only Government institute in
the country that treats cancer patients.
The children's ward of this hospital accommodates almost ten percent
of the total number of in-house cancer patients and having a well
equipped and good environment is essential for speedy recovery. The
Children's Ward Complex was constructed and donated by the bank in 2004
and renovated in 2014. |
