'Pansala Hadamu' initiative for rural temples
The Rehabilitation of Buddhist Temples Foundation has selected eight
rural temples for its inaugural fund donation program which will be held
on November 29 at the temple premises under the 'Pansala Hadamu'
initiative.
"This is the result of a project which we commenced six years ago
where we identified shortages in remote temples.
The initiative to provide monetary assistance through the Foundation.
The temples will receive an initial payment of Rs 200,000 each,"
Convenor of the Foundation, Rienzie T. Wijetilleke told the Sunday
Observer.
"We will support these temples and will include more in the future",
he said.
The Foundation was set up under a Parliament Act with state patronage
which empowers the Foundation to collect funds from Buddhist
philanthropists. |
