The new classroom

Ceylinco Life builds classroom for Divulapitiya school

Ceylinco Life's community initiative to support education in under-served towns and villages across Sri Lanka reached another milestone recently with the donation of a classroom to Assennawatta Kanishta Vidyalaya, Divulapitiya, taking the number of schools assisted under the program to 60.

The school, which accommodates 105 students, was the fourth to receive a classroom building from the life insurance leader this year.

The Higgaswatta Primary School, Kuruwita which accommodates 1,167 students, one of the four schools which benefited this year, received a classroom designed for students with special needs. The school has 34 teachers with classes up to Grade 10.

"Our countrywide branch network helps us to identify the schools most in need of support and ensure that construction meets standards and is completed on time," Ceylinco Life's Managing Director and CEO R. Renganathan said.

"The company has been donating classrooms for 10 years and will continue this project in support of the educational needs of rural students," he said.
