Deeds for landless people

Thirty four thousand deeds will be given to landless people, Land and Land Development Minister M.K.D.S. Gunawardena said.

He said that they will be given lands belonging to the government in keeping with the land policy of the Government.

The Minister said that President Maithripala Sirisena has instructed him to provide lands to people in suitable locations.

"Legal action will be taken against those who illegally occupied state-owned lands. We will conduct a thorough inquiry on the matter. We have received only few complaints about land problems" Gunawardena said.

Advertisements will be published in the media for those with land problems to bring them to the attention of the Ministry. We will address the landless problem in line with the 100- day program", the Minister said.
