The potential superfight between Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao
has taken another step to being finalised.
The two fighters' respective broadcasters, Showtime and HBO, have
decided how the scrap would be shown, according to promoted Bob Arum.
It means only two issues remain before the fight, scheduled in Vegas
for May 2, can be signed off. Arum claims that the two broadcasters have
come to terms on an announcing team among other details for the
potential showdown, including a reported 60/40 purse in Mayweather's
favour, meaning the pound-for-pound king could receive around
$120million. "We had four issues and we resolved two," said Arum, who
promotes the Filipino. "Now we're working on resolving the other two.
Unless something else comes up at the last minute, that's what my take
is."
It is not clear what the outstanding issues are, with Arum conscious
of scuppering an agreement as a deal becomes closer.
The two fighters met at an NBA basketball game recently, swapping
numbers and reportedly holding a subsequent meeting in a hotel. Should a
deal not be struck between the two world superstars, Britain's Amir Khan
could face up against either of them. Khan is waiting to see if an
agreement is reached between Mayweather and Pacquiao before deciding on
his next move, with fellow Brit Kell Brook reportedly interested. |
