NCC seminar on EU-Lanka trade

The National Chamber of Commerce (NCC) has organised a seminar on 'EU- Sri Lanka Trade Relations and GSP Plus' on Wednesday from 3-4.30 p.m at its auditorium at D. R Wijewardene Mawatha, Colombo 10. The Ambassador of European Union David Daly will be a guest along with a delegation from the European Commission of Brussels.

The speakers will include Deputy Director Nikos Zamis, Trade Policy Co-ordinator, DG Trade European Commission of Brussels, Andreas Julin. They will speak on new regulations on GSP and GSP Plus scheme, technical assistance, current business trend, trade opportunities for export, import, investment and other services available with the European Union.

Participants will also get an opportunity to interact with the Ambassador and the officials of the European Commission of Brussels.

Sri Lanka's bilateral trade with the EU topped $5.077 billion for the first time in 2014. Apparel was the biggest export item in 2014 at $2.16 billion, growing by 10.5%. The second biggest was rubber tyres and tubes at $20 million and the third was frozen fish at $90 million, an NCC official said.
