Richmond takes E.R.de.Silva Memorial Shield

Oscar Dissanayake, the former Wesley College skipper, who captained the side in 1973 presenting the ER De Silva Memorial Shield to the Richmond College captain Sithara Gimhan after Richmond College Galle beat Wesley College Colombo by six wickets at Campbell Park recently This Shield has been presented for the last 42 years in memory of ER De Silva, a former Richmond Principal.

The Shield was first presented to skipper Oscar Dissanayake, who led Wesley College to beat Richmond College in 1973 encounter. Former Richmond College Principal Rev WJT Small presented the very first Shield to Oscar Dissanayake in 1973.
