Grand finale on July 28
The grand finale of the 37th Observer/Mobitel Schoolboy Cricketer of
the year show will be held on July 28 at the Galadari Hotel main
ballroom.
The contest has produced hundreds of schoolboy cricketers who have
represented the country at the highest level, and this year too, the
selected players will get a tremendous boost for their future cricketing
endeavours.
The contest is conducted in the National, Platinum, Gold and Silver
categories. The first winner of the contest was Ranjan Madugalle in
1978. He later captained Sri Lanka and is presently the only Sri Lankan
to have became an ICC Chief Match referee. In year 1979 Arjuna Ranatunge
won the award. Ranatunge too captained Sri Lanka and had the rare honour
of winning the Cricket World Cup in 1996. |
