Chamika sets up 400m, 800m Central Province records

Chamika Weerawardena of St Anthony's College, Kandy established two
new meet records in both 400m and 800m events in the Under 19 age
category running on the grass track at the Central Province Schools
Athletic Meet held from July 6 to 10, 2015 at the Bogambara Stadium.
Weerawardena clocked 49.2 seconds in the 400 metre race to erase the
previous record of 54.09 seconds established by M.Riyaz of Trinity
College, Kandy in the year 1999.
In the 800 metres event he clocked 1.58 minutes to erase the previous
record of 1.58:05 minutes established by S.Weerasinghe of Walala
A.Ratnayake National School in 2007.
D.M.H.S. Karunaratne of Walala A.Ratnayake National School
established Under 17 800 metre new record clocking 2 min.02.04 seconds.
Previous record was 2 minutes 3.0 seconds by W.Jayaratne of Walala
A.Ratnayake National School in 1994.
R.M.H.S. Ratnayake of Kandy Model School established Under 15 Long
Jump record when he cleared a distance of 6.23 metres and the previous
record was 5.92 metres established by L.Welianga of St. Anthony's
College,Katugastota in 2010.
S.P.P.Bawantha of Weera Keepetipola National School, Galewela
established Under 17 Discuss Throw record when he cleared 43.47 metres
and the previous record was 42.61 metres held by S.Pasindu Nimantha of
Weera Keepetipola National School,Galewela in 2014.
Under 19 Long Jump record was established by H.B.M.Y.P.B.Herath of
Sri Sumangala,Kandy when he cleared the distance of 6.95 metres and the
previous record was held by R.Bandara of Dharmaraja,Kandy with 6.86
metres.
Trinity College, Kandy 4x100 Under 19 Relay team equaled the record
of 43.5 seconds established by St.Sylvester's College, Kandy in the year
2012.
