Gateway College opens state of the art Basketball Court

A Basketball Court at Gateway College was declared open by the Managing Directress of Gateway College Rohini Alles on June 29 amidst a distinguished gathering which included the President of the Sri Lanka Basketball Federation Asanga Amaratunga.

The playing surface of the new court has been laid with the most sophisticated rubberized material which incorporates an air cushion specially designed to bear the impact, thus avoiding strain and injury to the joints of players.

The new Court at Rajagiriya is also equipped with state-of-the-art remote control Basketball posts and rims, electronic shot clocks and electronic score board which all conform to the highest international standards.

The official opening was marked with exhibition matches between the under 19 Boys team of Gateway College and Asian International School and between the Colombo Basketball Club and the Sri Lanka Army team. There was also a three point shooting competition between some of the best players in Sri Lanka which drew much interest from the large crowd gathered to witness the occasion.
