Appoint competent people - NCE
The National Chamber of Exporters of Sri Lanka (NCE) in a statement
said the election results augurs well for the future of the country.
The Chamber fully endorses the core policies of the government
outlined in the manifesto, particularly the determination to establish
good governance, the rule of law and discipline in all areas of the
economy, and the support that is proposed to be extended to local
enterprises on a level playing field.
The Chamber feels that it is necessary for the government to
prioritize the appointing of competent people in ministries and other
government organizations connected to exports and trade.
It is necessary to have competent staff who could negotiate and
attract foreign investments to the country. The corruption investigation
process is not directly connected to exports. However, in general,
corruption should be eliminated, therefore, continuation of corruption
investigation process should continue.
The Chamber stands ready to extend its fullest cooperation to the
government to achieve all its economic and social development
objectives, to make Sri Lanka a great country for all to live in peace
and harmony, the statement said.
The NCE is the only private sector Chamber which provides services to
Sri Lankan exporters, who make a vital contribution to the economy
earning valuable foreign exchange. The Chamber has a membership of over
500 export companies, including some of the biggest export houses in Sri
Lanka, and a number of SME exporters.
They are responsible for over half of the foreign exchange earnings
of the country. |
