Disclosing source on remittances over Rs. 200,000:

No CB gazette notification - Director

The Central Bank of Sri Lanka (CBSL) has not issued any gazette notification to disclose the source on remittances of over Rs 200,000 in banks, as per a newspaper report last week, CBSL’s Finance Intelligence Unit, Director H. Amaratunga said. “Sri Lanka needs foreign exchange in its forward march and we should encourage the inflow of foreign remittances to the country,”

 

SL to woo 2.2m tourists this year

Sri Lanka Tourism will attract around 2.2 million visitors this year with improved room and staff facilities said Director General, Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority (SLTDA), Malraj Kiriella at the launch of Sancharaka Udawa 2016 last week. He said a program has been launched with the private sector to improve the skills of leisure sector employees.

 

SLIA calls for policy on foreign construction craftsmen

The surge in the number of foreign architects, consultants and contractors in Sri Lanka is a major challenge the construction sector has to grapple with in providing employment to local craftsmen, Sri Lanka Institute of Architects (SLIA) Immediate Past President Chitra Weddikkara said. She said this does not mean that the architectural fraternity does not want foreign construction craftsmen but the fact is.
