Developing world-class corporate leaders, our aim - Dion Gomes

Chairman, Colombo School of Business and Management (CSBM) and garments specialist Dion Gomes said, "Our ethos is to develop world-class corporate leaders with multiple competencies who thrive in the global business environment and craft leaders with strong business acumen, creative and intellectual insight, global understanding and professional integrity."

He was speaking after launching the CSBM in Colombo recently.

Students could make the best investment in their professional life by choosing the most appropriate higher education partner. With CSBM, students will have access to a range of global educational programs tailor-made to suit their needs, delivered through innovative teaching methods by good academics, Gomes said.

CSBM was set up with the support of prominent corporate leaders and institutions in Sri Lanka to promote a new leadership culture in the private and public sectors, he said.

It is centred on the corporate sector which is dedicated to develop multiple competencies among aspiring corporate leaders in Sri Lanka.

While having strong links with a large number of key organisations it will facilitate a stronger business exposure and innovative research. CSBM has a faculty drawn from the corporate sector and the academic community, local and international.

It offers numerous academic, executive education, professional programs, workforce development and corporate training solutions. Its aim is to be the premier business school and corporate campus which nurtures global business leaders, he said

CSBM is passionate about creating and disseminating new knowledge and thinking in leadership and management and fostering innovative and socially responsible leaders who understand the impact of business on society and create value through business.

There will be collaboration with global institutions, to be continuously progressive, while facilitating internationally-renowned programs in Sri Lanka. A key factor is the work CSBM will do with corporate and public sector institutions to build capacity to drive Sri Lanka's socio-economic development.

Values upheld by CSBM include Corporate connectedness - being committed to improving business thinking through quality and impact. Opportunities through collaboration - leveraging on the global campus to offer the best opportunities for students. Reality relevant - viewing learning interventions through global influence and collaboration. Explore and expand - encouraging examining minds, bold thinking and breakthrough research.

A wide range of programs within its strategic scope of corporate leadership are articulated in areas of business and management and professional learning and career development are facilitated.
