Joint venture with govt:
A consortium of Chinese companies has agreed to
manage and operate the Hambantota port, Mattala airport and to set
up an industrial zone in Hambantota on a joint venture basis with
Sri Lanka.

The United Nations Industrial Development
Organisation (UNIDO) will introduce bamboo cultivation in the North
and the East with varieties that are conducive to dry zones, UNIDO
Consultant Spyridon Kleitsas said.
Sri Lanka is targeting 2.2 million tourist
arrivals this year and 4.5 million in 2020, Chairman, Sri Lanka
Tourism Promotions Bureau and Sri Lanka Tourism Development
Authority, Paddy Withana told a meeting at the Sri Lanka Tourism
Board.
