BoC gifts to mark International Women's Day

The Bank of Ceylon (BoC) is offering gifts for new deposits to Kantha Ran Ginum (KRG) accounts or a new account to mark International Women's Day which fell on March 8.

A non-stick pan is on offer for a fresh deposit of Rs.25,000 or more, a jug for a deposit between Rs.10,000-25,000. For those who take part in the promotion uploaded on 'BoC SmartGen' FB page, five winners will receive gifts worth Rs. 10,000 each and 50 gift vouchers each worth Rs.1,000 as consolation prizes.

The KRG account offers an additional 0.5% interest over the normal savings account and a free life insurance cover amounting to ten times the minimum balance in the account, up to a maximum of Rs. 500,000, until she turns 60.

The account holder is also entitled to other facilities including an instant loan up to a maximum of 90% of the account balance, on-line banking, SMS banking and a debit card. In line with the Bank's digital transformation, the BoC KRG can be converted or opened under SmartGen as a fully digitalised account where a passbook is not needed to operate the account and customers have the freedom to do banking anytime anywhere seamlessly through the online banking facility free. Apart from direct benefits from the KRG savings account, the Bank has formulated a number of initiatives to empower women in the rural and SME sectors. The PAMP - Poverty Alleviation Micro-finance Project, a loan scheme has improved the lives of around 124,000 members in over 24,000 women's groups disbursing nearly Rs.1.8 billion.
