Field Marshal Fonseka supports hybrid court :
As anticipated, the Sri Lanka Freedom Party has launched an
offensive against the political protest rally to be held in Colombo
on Thursday by the UPFA parliamentary dissident faction against the
proposed ETCA economic agreement being negotiated with India.
Apologies, but Menika cannot shed one single tear, even a croc one,
when the former President bemoans the fact of a witch-hunt against
him and his family members. He accuses the government of trailing
him and his family with revenge and yes, that horrid word, jealousy
and thus the inquiries and arrests and those to come.
Kuliyapitiya school entry incident highlights lack of
health education and respect for privacy:
Finally, the story of the child denied admission to a school in
Kuliyapitiya has taken a positive turn. The child, whose mother is
'reportedly' HIV positive, became a target of a medieval form of
punishment: ostracisation. He started schooling again, at a prestigious
school in Kandy last week. The ostracisation may have offered him a
lifetime opportunity and we cannot help but hope that someday, the
victimized six-year-old will be in a position to educate some of those
who are in charge of education and health in this country.
