Famous Moral Stories

A greedy mouse saw a basketfull of corn and wanted to eat it. He made a small hole in the basket and squeezed through the hole and ate a lot of corn. He was full and very happy.

Now, he wanted to come out through the small hole. He could not because his stomach was full. He tried again, but it was of no use.

The mouse started crying. A rabbit was passing by and heard the mouse's cry and asked, "Why are you crying my friend?"

The mouse explained: "I made a small hole and got into the basket, but now I can't get out through the hole."

The rabbit said: "It is because you ate too much, wait till your stomach shrinks", the rabbit laughed and went away. The mouse fell asleep in the basket. The next morning his stomach had shrunk and he wanted to eat some corn. So, he ate and ate till his stomach was full again. He thought: "Oh! Now I will go out tomorrow".

The cat was the next passerby. He smelt the mouse in the basket and lifted its lid and he ate the mouse.

A little lamb, accompanied by a flock of sheep was grazing the green grass. The mischievous little lamb, was wandering here and there was eating the fresh grass unaware of the fact that it was closely followed by a wolf!

When the lamb realised that it had lost its way and was far away from the flock, it decided to join them. However, the lamb was stunned to see a hungry wolf standing behind it.

The lamb asked the wolf, 'Are you going to eat me?' The wolf said, 'Yes, at any cost!'

The lamb said, 'Can you please wait for some time? I ate a lot of grass and my stomach is filled with grass. If you eat me now, you will feel like eating grass!

The wolf agreed, 'Oh yes, I will wait for some time!' The lamb thanked the wolf. After some time, the wolf got ready to kill the lamb, but the lamb stopped him.

'Dear wolf, please wait for some more time. The grass is yet to get digested. If you eat me now, you will see a lot of grass in my stomach! Let me dance and it will digest fast.' The wolf agreed.

The little lamb danced and moved the foot towards the group. Suddenly the lamb stopped dancing.

The wolf inquired as to what had happened. 'Remove this bell tied on my neck and ring it as fast as you can, so that I can dance faster and the food will digest fast'.

The wolf, who wanted to eat the lamb removed the bell and shook it.

Meanwhile, the shepherd was searching for the little lamb and heard the sound of the bell. He saw the wolf and the lamb. He ran towards the wolf with a sticken. Seeing the shepherd with a stick, the wolf ran away and the lamb was saved!
