More benefits for Virusara card

The privilege card - Virusara issued by the Government to war heroes, will link more institutes in the rural areas of the country.

Lak Sathosa and the Co-op city will be added in the near future to the list of companies benefiting war heroes and their dependents, said Secretary to the State Ministry of Defence A.P.G. Kithsiri.

"We are in discussion with more institutes that are favoured by war heroes and their families," said Kithsiri. Trade and Commerce Minister Rishad Bathiudeen has agreed to assist with the Virusaru card venture following a recent discussion with the State Minister of Defence Ruwan Wijewardene.

Several other companies trading shoes and electronic appliances have also agreed to be included in the program, he added.

According to Kithsiri, the State Ministry of Defence will remind ministries requesting priority when serving war heroes and their families. Reminders have already been sent to 37 ministries.
