SLT Mobitel’s mobile money arm mCash, has entered into a strategic partnership with EV Point for a secured payment gateway for the newly deployed electric vehicle (EV) recharging station project in the country. EV Point vehicle recharging stations project is the first and the most innovative, multi-standard electric vehicle re-charging station network to be established in the country. With intelligent, cutting edge “Rapid Charging” technology it provides EV users a new and unique experience of re-charging EV’s in less than 20 minutes. This is yet another strategic and innovative collaboration by mCash in order to offer new and convenient solutions to its customers.

With the secure payment gateway provided by mCash, customers are able to view their actual usage and receive a SMS receipt immediately for each and every charging session they carry out.mCash customers can top up their mCash wallets conveniently via any mCash retailer point spread across the island by giving physical cash or even at late hours through internet & mobile banking via major banks in the country.

As phase 1 and with the main objective of removing the perceived range anxiety among EV drivers, EV Point stations will be strategically placed within a radius of 130-150km from each EV Point quick recharging station. EV Point has successfully installed 3 charging stations at Negombo on the main Colombo-Chilaw Road, Pilimathalawa on the main Colombo Kandy Road and Pinnaduwa exit point at the southern express way Galle. Phase 2 will include charging stations being installed at Apartment Complexes, Corporate Offices, Super Markets, Hotels, Malls and certain public accessible points to enable the EV community the freedom and the opportunity to re-charge at their convenience.

This multi-standard rapid charger enables and supports all EV models wildly available in Sri Lanka to obtain a re-charge in a safer, quicker and cleaner manner with no impact to the efficiency or the performance of the electric vehicle.
