International Food Triathlon

The Kingsbury Hotel with the Consulate of Mexico, in Colombo, the
Embassy of Mexico in India, the Indonesian Embassy in Colombo and the
Royal Thai Embassy in Colombo, is staging an International Food
Triathlon till October 2 to foster good relations between those
countries and Sri Lanka.
The event was launched on September 7. The Honorary Consul General
for Mexico, Mohan Pandithage said Mexico recently launched a national
policy to foster gastronomy, which will take the flavours of Mexico
worldwide to promote its natural and cultural wealth. A program of
Mexican vintage films will also be screened under the auspices of
Ambassador of Mexico to India and non-resident Ambassador to Sri Lanka,
Melba Pria.
The Indonesian Ambassador Harimawan Suyitno said the Indonesian
celebrity chef William Wongso will give an insight into Indonesian
traditional cuisine from September 15 to 18.
The Royal Thai Embassy too will be promoting their culture and
cuisine with their world famous traditional Thai dancers performing from
September 23 to 25 at the Gourmet Station and the celebrations at the
Ocean Seafood Restaurant from September 26 to October 2.
The General Manager of the Kingsbury, Scott Mawhinney said, "We are
the ambassadors of Sri Lanka serving a special brand of Sri Lankan
hospitality and world class standards that will position this beautiful
island as the best all-year round destination with strategic advantages
for leisure and business traffic."
