Man ordered to stop calling for pizza delivery
A Florida judge banned a man from ordering pizza delivery after he
allegedly caused more than $667 in losses with prank calls.
The Indian River County Sheriff's Office said Randy Riddle, 49, was
arrested on multiple counts of theft and making obscene or harassing
phone calls.
Riddle was released after posting $5,500 bail, but a judge ordered
him to refrain from calling for pizza delivery as a condition of his
release.
"Defendant shall refrain from calling any pizza establishment and/or
making any harassing calls or his bond shall be revoked," a warrant
affidavit quoted by TCPalm.com states. Sebastian police said Riddle made
prank phone calls to multiple different area pizzerias from May 30 to
June 18.
They said his calls, which came from five separate phone numbers and
sometimes included using a fake name, led to delivery drivers being sent
to vacant or nonexistent addresses to deliver food that were never paid
for.
Investigators said the businesses lost at least $667 as a result of
the hoax orders. They said Riddle would also sometimes call the
restaurants just to complain about the quality of their food.
Police said Riddle was previously convicted about eight years ago of
making harassing phone calls when he lived in Vero Beach, Fla.
