Spectacular: Kite Festival

Fashion Bug, one of Sri Lanka's leading retail clothing stores with over 17 outlets island wide, organized a Kite Festival at Negombo which was a resounding success.

The event was graced by Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police Kapila Jayasekara as the Chief Guest and Negombo Division Assistant Superintend of Police (ASP) Rohana Gamage as the Guest of Honour.

A crowd of over 3,000 were present to watch the Kite Competition which appealed to those from 8 to 80. Two types of competitions were conducted, namely the Largest Kite and Most Beautiful Kite and a Kite Fighting competition. Generous prizes were on offer, with the 1st Prize being Rs. 50,000/-, 2nd Prize Rs. 30,000/- and 3rd Prize Rs. 20,000/- for the largest and the most beautiful kite competition. In the Kite Fighting category the 1st Prize was a grand Rs. 100,000/-, 2nd Prize Rs. 50,000/- and 3rd Prize Rs. 25,000/- .


Director Fashion Bug Shabier Subian, Deputy General Manager Fashion Bug Dr. S.H.M Faraaz and Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police Kapila Jayasekara and Negombo Division Assistant Superintend of Police (ASP) Rohana Gamage with the winners.

Five Consolation prizes were also given away, with the total value of prize money given away amounting to Rs 300,000/-.

In the Largest and Most Beautiful Kite category the winners were 1st Place Chaminda Niroshan , 2nd Place Sampath Deepanath , 3rd Place Lakshitha Nirash, while the five Consolation prizes went to Ajesha Dilshan, Chamal Prasad, Supun Tharanga, Mohamed Farshad and Roshan .

In the Kite Fighting category the 1st Place was Suranga Jayalath, 2nd Place Nisansala Vishka, 3rd Place Stefano Rishmal.

A magic show, musical entertainment and other activities were also organized for the entertainment of the crowds who were most appreciative of Fashion Bug's efforts in organizing this spectacular event.

As one of Sri Lanka's leading retail clothing chains with over 17 outlets island wide, Fashion Bug is heavily involved in Sports and CSR activities, with all 17 of their branches contributing and participating in these initiatives. In addition, Fashion Bug has also established their CSR program under its Educational CSR platform, 'Sisu Dirimaga'.
