Installation ceremony of Lions Toastmasters Club
Lions Toastmasters Club is a combination of members of Lions
International in Sri Lanka and Toastmasters, affiliated with
Toastmasters International.
 They have come together to develop public speaking and leadership
skills.
Lions Toastmasters Club of the Toastmasters International District 82
Division A, Area 2 celebrated its fourth Presidential and Executive
Committee Installation Ceremony on August 20 at the Colombo City Hotel.
Prof. Lakshman Watawala, President of the Chartered Management
Accountants Sri Lanka (CMA Sri Lanka) was the chief guest and Lions
District 306 B2 District Governor, Lion Nimal Senadheera represented
Lions International as the guest of honour.
Toastmaster Dian Abeyewardene was installed as the 4th President of
Lions Toastmasters along with his executive committee for 2016/2017 by
the District 82, Division A2 Area director, Immediate past president TM
Lucky Jayasuriya and Division Director TM Sliema Gunatunga pinned the
incoming president and the executive committee for the year 2016/2017.
Eight new members were inducted by inducting officer TM Mazher
Fazleali who is behind the Lions Toastmasters Club, in association with
Lions District 306 B2 1st VDG PP TM Shyama Silva, Lion and TM Udaya
Silva and the founder mentor TM Dian Abeyewardene.
TM Haleem Ghouse gave the after dinner speech. Young toastmasters and
the children of toastmasters gave an entertaining performance.
A toast to President, Maithripala Sirisena was proposed by division
director TM Sliema Gunatunga.
In three years, it has won the 10 DCP points, Smedley and Talk Up
Toastmasters Award and Club Quality Award for the year 2015/2016.
The newly installed President TM Dian Abeyewardene is looking forward
to focusing on educational and leadership goals under the theme
‘Empowering to Serve’.
