Sri Lanka team wins four golds at international karate c’ships

The International traditional Karatedo Championship and Masters Seminar was held on July 23 and 24 at the Soka University and the Hilton Hotel in California USA respectively.


The Japan Karatedo Itosukai Sri Lanka team

The Japan Karatedo Itosukai Sri Lanka team had the opportunity to take part in this prestigious event and win four golds, four silvers and seven bronze medals.

The participants from Lyceum International Schools, British School in Colombo and Hendala Dojo are as follows:

Kevin Sosa (Lyceum Nuwara Eliya), Daham Bandara, Dihen Ratnayake, Shehan Susiran (Lyceum Gampaha), Harendra Tennakoon, Sasmith Karunatilleke (Lyceum Ratnapura), Sadika Perera, Lahan Samarakoon, R Dinanjanan, Minuka Wijeratne, Sanjitha Dharmapriya, Savinu Jayasuriya, Keshawa Liyanage (Lyceum Nugegoda), Thevindu Weeraratne (Lyceum Panadura), R Thayen, S Sileshdharan, Inesh Gunasekera, Dulina Kombalavithana (Lyceum Wattala), Ashen Dileepa (captain) (Hendala Dojo), Jawahir Hamadaan, V Laleeteshwaran, V Kamalaeshwaran, Ashan Samarasuriya, NS Nikita, MM Bokang (British School, Colombo), Sensei, A Richard (Coach, Itosukai HQ), Sensei, TM Thasneem (Coach, British School, Colombo).

The team was led and coached by Shihan RJ Alexander (Black Belt 7th Dan), the head coach of Lyceum International School and the chief instructor of the Japan Karatedo Itosukai Sri Lanka Branch.
