BMS Colombo in Red Bull Campus World finals

An opening salvo from captain Niroshan Dickwella, and calculated knocks from Manoj Sarathchandra and Janith Liyanage saw BMS Colombo comfortably into a home final in the Red Bull Campus Cricket World Finals.

In pursuit of 180, Dickwella smote five fours and a six inside the first three overs to set the chase off apace, before no. 3 batsman Sarathchandra took control of the innings. While Sarathchandra’s 47 not out off 33 balls formed the spine of BMS’ chase, Janith Liyanage provided a crucial 43 from 33 balls, as the pair added 74 for the fourth wicket, following a minor stutter. Dickwella’s contribution had been 31 from 13. The BMS victory, on one of the Galle surface’s more placid avatars, overshadowed the best innings of the match, from University of Pretoria

Cricket Tuks’ Evan Jones, who made 51 off 23 balls. Cricket Tuks had won the tournament in two of the previous four years, and their exit now means the 2016 World Final will have a new victor. BMS reached their target with six wickets and as many balls to spare.
