Wimal admits to mass grave in North but rebuffed by Malwatte Mahanayake

President Maithripala Sirisena hosted a dinner for some leading civil society activists and trade union leaders, at the President’s House, on Wednesday night. Leaders of the National Movement for a Just Society, Puravesi Balaya and some prominent trade unions attended the event.

Oh-me-Gosh! What a fortnight! A court verdict even this ordinary cat had been waiting for, finally delivered. And, the two major political parties celebrating their birth anniversaries: the greens exactly the Biblical age and the blues, five years less. Let us not forget our Prez celebrating his birthday too.

 

GMOA’s privileges antics

The Government Medical Officers’ Association (GMOA) locked horns with the government again, when a group of doctors occupied the Education Ministry premises demanding a meeting with the minister. The doctors, who received recent transfers, said their children had not been given a chance to get admission to a ‘good school’.
