Garmin supports Lankan team in the desert

Garmin, a brand in navigation and fitness tracking technology, will keep on track the first ever Sri Lankan team participating, in support of a cancer charity, in the grueling '4 Deserts' foot-run through the world's highest altitude desert, the Atacama Desert, starting Friday in Chile, South America.

The team, comprising retired Army Major Ruvan Ranatunga of Adventure SEALS and Shihan John of MAS Holdings, will run the trail for seven days through harsh terrain to build awareness for Trails-Sri Lanka, a charity supporting the fight against cancer.

The competitors, representing 42 countries, will set off for the 12th edition of the Atacama Crossing (Chile) 2016 - a 250-kilometre, six-stage race, self-supported foot race. Ranatunga and John are sponsored by Garmin with outdoor navigation and fitness tracking devices, a Garmin Lanka news release said.
