Bandaranayake, St. Anne’s K’gala in upset wins

Bandaranayake College, Gampaha beat Zahira College Colombo by 23 runs and St. Anne’s College Kurunegala beat De Mazenod College Kandana by 125 runs to record upset wins in the Singer Trophy Under 19 inter-schools cricket tournament matches played at Maradana and Kurunegala respectively yesterday.

Zahira lost despite a fine all-round effort from Sajith Sameera who scored a century and took eight wickets in the match. In St. Anne’s victory Wanitha Wanninayake scored a century and Pubudu Ganegama took a match bag of 10 wickets against De Mazenod.

St. Peter’s College Bambalapitiya and Siri Piyarathana MMV Padukka also won their matches against St. Anthony’s College Wattala and President’s College Maharagama respectively.

Kavindu Nimesh scored a century for Siri Piyarathana while Santhush Gunathilake took 7 wickets for 12 runs for the Peterites.
