role of Lancelot, thus played by Dharmasiri Bandaranayake has been
assigned to a relative new comer in the arena of the Sinhala
theatre. In Jayalath Manorathne's production of the play which will
go on the boards at the Elphinston Theatre on November 21 and 22,
2007 the role of Lancelot will be played by Jagath Chamila.

A veteran mountaineer with sixteen climbs to Mount Everest
Sky's the limit and to attempt a first may sound
crazy and to do it a record breaking sixteen times sounds even more
crazier making one wonder if he actually spent most of his life in
the freezing cold up on Mount Everest, mountain climbing. But, it
was serious stuff he was talking about when I met him, a man of many
accolades; an icon of scouting in Sri Lanka, who brought honour to
his alma mater, Dharmaraja College, Kandy and later Ananda College.

Kithul
The wish - conferring tree:
The kithul or fish tail palm is a popular tree
among the rural community in Sri Lanka. This tree is botanically
known as Caryota urens which belongs to the family Palmae.
Traditionally the coconut tree, Cocos nucifera which belongs to the
same family Palmae is known as the wish-conferring tree, ("Kapruka")
since all parts of this tree have important and different uses as a
multipurpose tree.
