Kandy SC in two easy wins

The defending champions Kandy Sports Club scored two comfortable
victories while Police Sports Club stunned CR & FC by holding them to a
19 all draw on the opening day of the Dialog Professional Rugby Sevens
organised by the Sri Lanka Rugby Football Union which began at the
Bogambara Stadium in Kandy yesterday. The tournament continues today at
8 a.m.
The best game of the day was the match between Police Sports Club and
the strong CR & FC which saw the game fluctuating either way. The
policemen ran into an early lead through a try and goal to lead 12-0 at
half time.
But the red shirts hit back in the second half to snatch the lead
through two goals and a try to lead 19-12.
But in the closing stages of the game the cops did the unexpected
when they scored a brilliant try which was converted to equalise at
19-all.

Another upset was when Sri Lanka Army beat the strong CH and FC
19-14.
But the defencing champions Kandy Sports Club so far had an easy
passage defeating Jawatte Lions SC 59-0 and also Galle Rugby Football
Club 56-5 to keep their tag as one of the main contenders.

Force beat Kurunegala RFC 35-5, Police SC beat Old Zahirians SC 48-0,
Kandy SC beat Galle RFC 56-5, Army beat CH & FC 19-14, Havelock SC beat
Air Force 26-7, Police drew with CR & FC 19-all. |
