Eight wicket win for Thomians

St. Thomas College, Mount Lavinia trounced Trinity College, Kandy by
eight wickets in their inter school cricket match concluded at the
Asgiriya Stadium in Kandy yesterday.
Trinity College in the absence of their star allrounder Sachith
Pathirana gave a very poor batting display in both innings. The
inability of their frontline batsmen to remain at the wicket and build
up a score contributed to their miserable display.
In the first innings their score from 106 for 5 stumped to 108 all
out, losing their last five wickets for just 2 runs. In the second
innings too their total fell from 103 for 5 to 103 for 8 losing 3
wickets for no runs before they were all out for 114. Losing their last
five wickets for 11 runs.
For the Thomians medium pacer Ruchira de Silva took 4 for 26 and also
scored 36 not out. Only half centurian in the match was T. Nugawela who
scored 50 with 6 fours off 60 balls. Spinner Nilan Fernando had match
figures of 6 for 22 to bring his tally for the season to 85 wickets.

Sri Rahula force a draw

Sri Rahula College, Katugastota batted stubbornly in the Second
innings to force a draw in their schools Lemonade trophy cricket match
against Kingswood College conducted at university grounds, Peradeniya
yesterday.
Sri Rahula College who trailed behind in the first innings by 111
runs did well to bat on for 78 overs in their second essay to thwart a
possible Kingswood victory.
Kingswood College 233 all out in 76.5 overs (P. Senaratne 22, M.
Maduranga 25, Krishan Silva 18, P. Senaviratne 18, M. Bandaranayake 31,

A good allround performance by J. Chandimal Ratnayake who scored 132
(18 fours, 1 six, 135 balls) and captured 4 for 27 helped Dharmaraja
College to score an innings and 137 runs win over St. Thomas College,
Matale in their inter school cricket match concluded at Police Grounds,
Kandy yesterday.
Also starring for Rajans in this win was Theekshana Wedagedera who
made 122 with 12 fours, 1 five off 148 balls and Medium pacer Tharindu
Balasuriya 5 for 31 and off spinner R. Ekanayake who took 5 for 22.
