Devnaka Porage - wins 'Gold' in Oyama Karate

KARATE: Grade seven student - Devnaka Porage - an eleven-year-old student of Elic International School in Mabima has succeeded in winning the gold medal in the Yellow Belt Kata event at the Colombo Shotokan Karate Tournament 2009.

Devnaka is a student under instructor Rohan de Silva and indications are that Devnaka has the ability to go further in Karate. He has mastered the art of Oyama Karate and has impressed Oyama Karate expert Kancho Sashu Shiseru, who on seeing a video of Devnaka performing, has congratulated the boy and has said that the boy has the talent to go further in the sport.
