KDSDF to plan out improvements for sport activities

KDSDF MEETING: The Kandy District Sports Development Foundation (KDSDF) will meet on Tuesday August 25 to plan out their programme for the last quarter of this year.

The meeting will be presided over by KDSDF's President Anuruddha Ratwatte at the DIG's office, Kandy at 5 p.m.

The Deputy President, DIG Pujith Jayasundera, the Secretary, SSP Ranjith Kasturiratne, Vice Presidents, Sunil Munsasinghe, Maurice Perera, Upananda Jayasundera, Co-ordinating Secretaries IP Kapila Bandara, Lesley Soyza, Sena Dissanayake and the other executive members also will be present on this occasion.

The KDSDF has been doing some good work in Kandy and one of their achievements was the upliftment of the Bogambara Grounds in the year 2000.

Besides the improvements to various grounds, the committee will have the following sports competitions and seminars in various sports to lift the standards: Soccer, Cricket, Road Races (different age groups), Have refresher courses for coaches in various sports and by that the coaches will be able to unearth hidden talent.

Tournament in Netball, Rugby and Tennis have been held. The Foundation hopes to spend around Rs. 2 million for the improvement of sports in the district.
