AIS swimmers set up three new meet records

Three new meet records were set up by Asian International School
swimmers at the 18th edition of the Inter-International School Swimming
Meet held at the Sugathadasa Stadium Swimming Pool yesterday.
Asian International School’s Matthew Abeysinghe established a new
meet record in the 50m Butterfly event clocking 27.14. AIS’ Ali
Isphahani finished the 50m Breakstroke in 32.29 seconds.
At the end of the first day, after completing 47 events, Lyceum
Wattala are leading the overall points table, with having obtained 505
points while Lyceum Nugegoda was placed second collecting 433. Gateway
College and Asian International School secured the third and fourth
positions for their 308 and 296 respectively.
Sri Lanka’s three leading swimmers, AIS’ Kimiko Raheem, Machiko
Raheem and Matthew Abeysinghe competed on the first day of the two-day
championship. The trio have already been selected to participate in the
World Swimming Championship, which will be held from December 12 to 16
in Turkey. Sri Lanka will field only three swimmers in next month’s
world long-course meet according to their best performance recorded at
the last National Swimming Championship which was held from September 21
to 23 in Colombo.
Today, there will be 106 events - the final day of the two-day meet.
